ICC Gears Up for 2019 Climate Summit with SDG Action Labs

Hits: 2033

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) will launch a new workshop series for corporate sustainability leaders to discuss best practices and challenges in incorporating the Sustainable Development Goals into their business models.

Convened by ICC, and supported by the World Benchmarking Alliance and Nestle, the bespoke SDG Action Labs will launch on the margins of the United Nations High Level Political Forum taking place in New York next week.

United Nations Secretary-General Special Envoy for the 2019 Climate Summit, Luis Alfonso de Alba, will join corporate members for an inaugural SDG Action Lab on Mobilizing Climate Action at Scale. The Special Envoy, who recently helped to launch ICC’s Chambers Climate Coalition at the World Chambers Congress in Rio, will brief ICC members on the nine action areas of the 2019 Climate Summit and provide guidance on how companies can secure an invitation to join leaders, from all sectors, on the world stage at the 23 September  event.

ICC Secretary General John W.H. Denton AO said: “As the only private sector organisation with a permanent seat at the General Assembly, ICC proudly represents the voice of business at the United Nations and around the world. We look forward to continuing to work with UN leaders to support initiatives that will increase private sector implementation of the 2030 Agenda.”
